Description

This quick and easy cake is so good it will wow your friends and family!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CAKE:
  • ¼ sticks Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 cups Chopped Granny Smith Apples
  • ½ cups Chopped Walnuts
  • FOR THE CARAMEL SAUCE:
  • ¼ cups Butter
  • ¼ cups Brown Suagr
  • ¼ cups Heavy Cream
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9×9 cake pan.

In a bowl cream stick butter and sugar and then add the egg. Set aside.

In a separate bowl combine all the dry ingredients (flour through baking powder on the above list). Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.

Last fold in the apples and walnuts.(This will look dry but it will work). Press batter into prepared pan. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with caramel sauce.

For the caramel sauce bring butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream to a boil in a heavy sauce pan for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Drizzle over the cake.

Thanks for the recipe! This cake is so good. It was a hit at our church potluck dinner. :) I chose to leave out the nuts and added extra apples…no complaints.

Its a good apple cake. I added probably too many apples so it was about 60% apples and 40% batter but it came out great. I also left out the nuts and added a cup of whole cranberries. The cranberries added a great pop of flavor and next time I’ll do half cranberries. Its a thin cake as it shows in the picture, but we liked it. Doesn’t really need the sauce or frosting.
