This is the yummiest heart warming custard I’ve ever tasted.
Start by putting the milk in a pan on medium high to scald (just before boiling).
Meanwhile whisk eggs, vanilla, salt, and granulated sugar together in a bowl. Set aside.
Butter the bottom of a 9-inch round baking dish (I use CorningWare you can also use ramekins). Then spread the brown sugar evenly over the bottom to cover.
Once milk is scalded, add a little at a time to the egg mixture to temper the eggs (make sure to stir continuously). When it’s all added together pour this over the brown sugar.
Place your baking dish or ramekins in a roaster pan that is filled with hot water (the water should go half way up the sides of the baking dish). Bake at 350F for about an hour in the water bath.

Mmm, I’ll have to try this. I’ve been looking for a good custard recipe for a while.

I buy my free range eggs from a local woman, and you are very right there is nothing like it!

I grew up eating custard, I love the addition of brown sugar and can’t WAIT to try it! We recently got Chickens and there is just nothing like free range eggs. YUM!
