Ice cream sauce made with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and red wine. Simple and delicious.
Rinse the berries.
Cut the strawberries into quarters and add them to a medium size bowl. Add the blueberries and raspberries to the same bowl and set aside.
Add the sugar and water to a medium size saucepan. Heat the saucepan over a medium low heat until sugar is dissolved. Then add the berries to the saucepan and stir.
Then, add the lemon juice from 1/2 of a lemon, wine, and zest. Stir all of the ingredients together. Continue stirring as the sauce thickens. It takes about 10 minutes for the sauce to thicken.
Pour the sauce into a container (a mason jar works well) and store in the refrigerator.
Serve the warm berry wine sauce over ice cream.
For a taste of chocolate, add some chocolate sauce over the vanilla ice cream before adding the berry wine sauce.
