At the request of my daughter, we added Nutella to our homemade ice cream. This simple recipe is easy and doesn’t require an ice cream maker—
just a lot of waiting.
Place Nutella in a medium bowl and set aside. In a medium sauce pan, combine half of the heavy cream, sugar and salt. Heat on medium until sugar starts to dissolve. Add the remainder of the heavy cream and milk. Bring to a simmer. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour mixture over Nutella and whisk until smooth. Cover with a lid or plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about an hour or until cooled.
Remove from the fridge and whisk well. Cover and place in the freezer for two hours. Remove from the freezer and use a whisk to break up any ice crystals. Using a hand mixer, blend on medium for about 3 minutes. Place back into the freezer for another 2 hours, remove and blend again for 3 minutes. Repeat once more in 2 hours, and freeze until firm or overnight. Enjoy.
