Description

I have no idea why this is called Jewish Coffee Cake but that’s what it’s been called in my family for years. Either way, it’s delicious!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CAKE:
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 3 whole Eggs, Well Beaten
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • _____
  • FOR THE TOPPING:
  • ¾ cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, Softened
  • 2 Tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ cups Chopped Nuts (optional)

Preparation

For cake:

Preheat oven to 325 F. Cream butter, add sugar and beaten eggs. Add sour cream and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture. Mix well.

For topping:

Mix topping ingredients together in a smaller bowl and set aside.

Grease and flour an angel food tube cake pan. Layer half of cake batter in pan. Top with 3/4 of the topping. Layer with the rest of the batter and sprinkle on the rest of the topping.

Bake at 325 degrees (F) for 45-50 minutes.

Absolutely delicious … thank you for the recipe. I have added this to our “go to” cake recipe. I made mine in a bundt pan and it worked perfectly.
