Moist, rich, simple-but-elegant classic vanilla pound cake. This recipe is from my mother-in-law, the pound cake queen!
Cream sugar, butter, and Crisco shortening, about 3 to 5 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla; beat with an electric mixer, about 10 to 15 minutes. Combine flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture and milk alternately. Pour into a tube pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 325ºF for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
