I made the recipe as written & it just didn’t work for me. The final product didn’t look llike the cookies in the picture…mine were dry and crumbly. It seemed like it needed more “batter” and less cereal. My kids did not care for these either. If I ever try it again, I would use way less cereal (I used Honey Nut Cheerios) and I would try raisins or craisins (I didn’t care for the figs). Sorry, I wanted to like this recipe…it just did not work for me.

These are really delicious! I also used 4oz apple sauce and only 1/4c oil. And I used dates instead of figs. Everything else stayed the same. They were amazing! It only made 18 1/4 cup size cookies though, but 1 cookie is more than enough for me. Will definitely be keeping these around!

These are wonderful! I used applesauce for half of the oil and had to use Craisins and Toasted Oatmeal cereal as that’s what I had on hand, but I loved them!! I think I’ll try even amounts of oats and cereal next time as I too couldn’t get all three cups of cereal into the dough. I’m making another big batch of these next week to send to a friend who just had a baby – they’re a wonderful grab and go breakfast! Thanks so much for the recipe!

I usually put some kind of store-bought granola bar in my husband’s lunch for his breakfast. I tried these last week and he loved them so much he took cookies in for his buddies’ breakfast too. He asked me to make a second batch for this week. I use Honey-Nut Cheerios, and have a hard time getting 3 cups mixed into the batter. I probably used 2 cups of cereal.

Duh! Thanks for the quick response. As you may have guessed, I haven’t bought Cheerios in a long time. I wanted to leave you a message on your wire, but sometimes I can’t find ‘the wire’ on someone’s profile page. Is it just me?

Yes! Toasted oat cereal like Cheerios. I used a natural brand, but any “O” cereal you want to use will work.

I was confused by the ‘toasted oat cereal’, too. Do you mean oatmeal or something like Cheerios?

I really want to make these! What kind of toasted oat cereal do you use?
