Description

This is no ordinary cranberry “sauce.” With orange zest and walnuts, cinnamon, and a hint of clove, you will never go back to the canned stuff again. It is so easy and you can make it days in advance. Double bonus!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (12 Oz. Bag) Fresh Cranberries
  • 1 whole Orange, Zest And Juice
  • ½ cups Water
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Chopped Walnuts Or Pecans
  • ½ cups Golden Raisins
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoons Ground Cloves

Preparation

1. Put cranberries in a sauce pan. Add the zest and juice of one whole orange, plus enough water to make 3/4 cup of liquid. Add brown sugar. Stir to combine. Put sauce pan over medium heat on the stove top; cook until cranberries start to burst open.
2. Continue to cook, but bring heat down to low. Add the nuts, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir to combine and continue to cook for 5-10 minutes longer or until relish becomes thick.
3. Remove from heat. Let cool and transfer to a serving bowl. You can serve immediately or the relish is also good made up to one week in advance. Just store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Delicious. I am sure my kids won’t try it, but I will enjoy it.
