This is THE easiest cake in the world! It’s the one I turn too when I can’t think of something to make, because I always have these 3 ingredients on hand. This is a fun one for kids to help you make. Customize the taste by using any flavor Jell-o you like.
Bake the cake per package directions.
Boil 2 cups of hot water and dissolve the Jell-o (we prefer Cherry or Strawberry).
While cake is still warm, poke holes all over with a fork.
Pour the still hot Jell-o over the cake, letting it soak into the holes.
Cool cake in fridge for a couple of hours so the Jell-o has time to cool. Top with one small tub of Cool Whip and serve. Keep leftovers refrigerated.
Your kids will thank you!

Loved this! Followed instruction as written. Made it in a 9×13, used cherry jello.
Took to a MOMS Club playgroup. Big hit!
Next time I might get a little more aggresive with my “pokes”.

We didn’t really care for this cake. We all really wanted to like it because it really came out beautifully, but I made it three nights ago and only a few pieces have been eaten. Personally, I liked it enough to eat it, but I probably won’t ever make it again.

BTW, I always heard and have made it with 2 boxes of jello and still use only 2 cups water. It’s really good that way. I also like to put fresh strawberries on top if I have them on hand.
