wow! i just made these (inspired by the TK blog!) ~ not only do these taste delish, but my house smells MORE than delish! ;D thanks so much for sharing it!
as you suggested, i used some of my vanilla sugar. i also used vietnamese cinnamon which is so yummy spicy, and i reduced the amount of sugar to about 1.5 cups total.
these are easy, quick, and delicious!!

I too made this recipe with 1 1/2 cups of sugar and vietnamese cinnamon. The almonds turned out great.
Next time I’m going to try pecans. This is a wonderful recipe!

I just finished making these and they are out of this world. Better than the almonds at our local street fair/farmers market. I’m in big trouble now. They were too easy. I will be making them for holiday gifts along with pecans. Tooo good…..

My mom and I are spending this morning baking. We made a double batch, for a party we’re hosting tomorrow. Hopefully there will be some left by then! These are so, so good. Well done Birgit!

Reminder ….. when an almond pops out of the pot DO NOT pick it up or one is rendered helpless as hot sugar burns a large blister into thier thumb.
Wonderful recipe. Stirred them til the pot was dry before I added the extra sugar and they worked ok but I am going to try adding the extra sugar when there is still a bit of syrup left in the pot …..

You have no idea how excited I was to see this recipe. I have tried and tried to find a recipe to make these and (obviously) have been unsuccessful.
It’s 10 years this Thanksgiving since I went to my first Christkindlmarkt in Deutschland. This is SO exciting!!!!!!!! Danke!

these sound great, but I’m slightly confused…the ingredients list says 2 1/4 c of sugar, but the text seems to indicate only
1 1/3 c of sugar (it says 1 cup for the initial portion, and then in the note about the vanilla it says the second amount of sugar is 1/3 c). Could you clarify, Birgit?

I have to make these soon. I foresee a trip to the warehouse store to buy a BIG bag of almonds. Oh yeah!

It is 1 1/3 cup of sugar. Sorry for the typo in the ingredient list!
I would go and edit it but that will hide the recipe until it’s approved and that’s probably not a good thing during the feature!

I make a very similar version and my dad, my son and my husband are crazy for them, practically ready to arm wrestle each other for them. Ha ha. I’m going to give your version a go, it looks delicious. Thanks.

I read the comments after I made them. I was coming in here to ask about the sugar. That’s what I get for not checking first! lol
But, they still turned out really good! I almost wish I hadn’t found these, because now I’ll be eating too many of them!
I thank you, my hiney doesn’t! lol
