Description

When you want to serve a crowd something warm and chocolatey delicious there’s nothing quite like Hot Chocolate with Pepperminty Marshmallows. Because you serve it from a crockpot, it can be available over a period of hours. You can even walk away from it and there it is, welcoming everyone to stop for a moment and enjoy a quick treat. Rich and tasty, it works quite well for any winter occasion.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE HOT CHOCOLATE:
  • ⅔ cups Cocoa
  • ⅔ cups Sugar
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 can (14 Oz. Size) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 package (12 Oz. Size) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 gallon Whole Milk
  • FOR THE PEPPERMINTY MARSHMALLOWS:
  • 5 pieces Peppermint Candies (or Canes)
  • 6 ounces, weight Chocolate Bark Coating
  • 1 bag (10 1/2 Oz. Size) Marshmallows

Preparation

For the hot chocolate:
In a saucepan mix together cocoa and sugar. Gradually add water while stirring. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly and allow to boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add sweetened condensed milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until chips are melted and everything is combined. (If necessary, mixture can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for a few days until needed.)

Place chocolate mixture in a 5-quart crockpot and gradually stir in whole milk. Heat on low until warm.

For the marshmallows:
Coarsely crush peppermint candy or canes in a food processor and place in a shallow bowl. Melt chocolate bark in a shallow bowl in the microwave, following package instructions. Dip marshmallows in chocolate and then in crushed peppermint candies. Place on plastic wrap until chocolate is set. Serve with hot chocolate.
