Description

No one needs to know you use store brought crusts… It’ll be our little secret!

Ingredients

  • 6 Tablespoons Butter, Melted, Divided Use
  • ½ cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Chopped Pecans
  • 1 box Refrigerated Pie Crusts (2 Count Box)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ⅓ cups All-purpose Flour
  • ¾ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Apple Pie Spice
  • 5 whole Granny Smith Apples, Peeled And Cut Into 1/2 Inch Slices

Preparation

Coat a deep-dish pie plate with nonstick cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. Spray the paper with cooking spray as well.

In a small bowl combine 4 tablespoons of melted butter, brown sugar, and pecans. Mix well and spread evenly over the bottom of the pie plate but make sure you stay on top of the parchment. Place one of the crusts into the plate, pressing it firmly against the nut mixture and up the sides of the plate. Set aside.

In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, apple pie spice and the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix well. Add apples and toss gently to coat. Spoon into the prepared pie crust.

Place the second crust over the apple mixture. Trim and fold edges of the two crusts together to seal, cut slits in the top crust to act as a vent while baking.

Bake 1 to 1-1/4 hours or until crust is golden brown in a 375 degree F oven. Make sure to place a cookie sheet on the bottom oven rack to catch any possible drips from the pie.

Let the pie cool for about 5 minutes and then place a plate (that is larger than the pie) on top of the pie and flip over. It will still be warm so make sure you use oven mitts. Remove the pie plate from the bottom (now top) of the pie and gently remove the parchment paper. Allow the pie to cool. Serve slightly warm or at room temperature.

Really simple and straight forward recipe! We used our cast iron skillet instead of a pie dish….which worked great! This pie is particularly good served with a small scoop of caramel sea salt gelato. Our guests loved it! We will definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing.
