Description

Turtle Rice Crispy Treats. Everything is better with homemade caramel and chocolate.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CRISPY TREATS:
  • 4 Tablespoons Salted Butter
  • 6 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 5 cups Crispy Rice Cereal
  • FOR THE CARAMEL AND TOPPING:
  • ⅔ cups Salted Butter
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar, Firmly Packed
  • ⅛ cups Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cups Chopped Pecans

Preparation

For the crispy treats:
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows have melted. Add the vanilla extract. Stir in the crispy rice cereal, one cup at a time, until well combined. Press the mixture into a greased 9×9 baking pan.

For the caramel:
In a small saucepan, add the butter, brown sugar, and milk. Bring to a boil and cook until caramel begins to thicken and pull away from the pan (about 2-3 minutes).

Pour the caramel sauce over the rice crispy treats. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the caramel, followed by the chopped pecans. Place in the refrigerator until the chocolate sets back up. Serve and try not to drool. Enjoy!

These were very yummy, and as the previous review said very sweet! A nice tall glass of milk helps wash them down! A cup of coffee would have been nice too but they didn’t make it to the next morning! :)

These are quite yummy and very easy to make. I found the brown sugar in the caramel made it a little too sweet for the overall blend of flavors. I think next time, I will boil sweetened condensed milk for the caramel. Overall, though, a nice treat.
