Description

Let’s celebrate spring flavors with a baked triple berry crumble!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cups Chopped Walnuts
  • ¼ cups Chopped Pecans
  • 4 cups Mixed Berries Frozen Or Fresh
  • 1-½ cup Granulated Sugar, Divided
  • 2 Tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • ¼ cups Orange Liqueur (optional)
  • 1 cup Bread Flour
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Freshly Grated Nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoons Allspice
  • ½ teaspoons Fine Sea Salt

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 350ºF and spray a cast-iron skillet or 8×8 inch baking pan with a nonstick spray. Set aside.

Begin by toasting the nuts: In a large dry skillet, combine the walnuts and the pecans. Turn the heat up to medium-low and toast the nuts until a nutty aroma fills the air and they begin to brown slightly, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Prepare your filling. In a large mixing bowl, combine the berries, 1 cup granulated sugar, all-purpose flour and liqueur. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking vessel and set aside.

Now prepare your topping. Combine the bread flour, the remaining ½ cup of granulated sugar, brown sugar, toasted chopped walnuts, toasted chopped pecans, butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and sea salt. Mix with a heavy wooden spoon until all is combined and the dough is “crumbly.”

Sprinkle the dough over the berry mixture and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
