Description

The oatmeal-cinnamon stuffing highlights the true star of this dessert: juicy, sweet pears.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • ½ cups Plus One Tablespoon Sugar Cane Natural (Sucanat) Or Light Brown Sugar, Divided Use
  • 1 Tablespoon Light Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, Softened
  • 6 whole Red Bartlett Pears

Preparation

Mix first five ingredients in small bowl and set aside. Cut pears in half and core with a melon baller, only taking out the seeds and hard center. Place each pear half in bottom of 9X13 baking dish, cored centers facing up. Sprinkle top of pears evenly with the remaining 1 Tablespoon of the Sucanat. Fill each pear with the oat mixture, placing approximately one tablespoon of the filling in each cored area. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 375 degrees.

I made this with the few pears I had left over after doing a bunch of canning. I wish I would have saved a lot more, it is fabulous! I used all brown sugar because that is all I had. It was just as yummy the next morning for breakfast!

Very quick and easy to make and so delicious, I served these pears ala mode and they were a hit. They’re also great because they are light so you don’t feel too full or unhealthy eating them.
