Description

This is my version of the legendary fudge pie served at the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, Texas. It is served topped with ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts and a cherry! The cafe serves it with vanilla ice cream, but that is coffee bean ice cream on my slice!

Ingredients

  • 9 Inch Pie Crust (store Bought Or Your Favorite Recipe)
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 8 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup Butter, Melted
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Partially bake the pie crust for 5 minutes according to package (or your recipe) instructions.

Whisk together the sugar, flour, salt and cocoa powder in medium mixing bowl. Blend in melted butter. Add the eggs and vanilla and stir until well blended. Pour into the pie crust and bake 45 minutes.

The filling will be soft in the center but not runny; do not overbake, as it will set up some as it cools. If crust gets too brown, cover with a pie shield or aluminum foil.

Allow to cool to room temperature (this allows the fudge to set up.)

I think it is best served warmed. I micowave a slice for about 20 seconds on high.

Top with your choice of ice cream, fudge sauce, whipped cream, nuts and cherries.

I’m not sure if my was set up the way the recipe intended or not, but it was fantastic. I cooked it at 350 for about 40 minutes. The upper 1/4 inch was like a brownie, while the inner was like a hot pudding. My guests loved the consistency of it. After the left overs cooled in the fridge over night, the whole pie was the same consistency. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing.

mmmmmmmmmmmm. It’s like an ooey-gooey brownie. Only better. Super easy to throw together with on-hand ingredients. Adding to the regular rotation.

This pie is wonderful! Good with any ice cream, any nut, and homemade or store bought whip cream!!! For those NOT watching their waistline. :)

This pie is extremely rich… I made it to serve to a group of friends; out of five people, one person absolutely loved it but the rest of us could not finish even a small slice, the pie was way too rich.
