Description

There aren’t many things that are better than homemade frosting. This is my mom’s recipe and one that is requested each year for birthdays.

It’s just not the same without her scratch-made cakes and frosting.

Ingredients

  • 2-½ cups Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • ½ sticks Butter, Softened
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 pinch Salt

Preparation

1. In large bowl, mix together the sugar and cocoa.
2. Blend the sugar mixture with the softened butter until light and smooth.
3. Add in milk, vanilla, and salt until combined.
4. If it isn’t at your desired frosting consistency, add powdered sugar, a little at a time, until it has thickened up.

I made some practice cupcakes and this frosting for my son’s birthday. Neither one of us were in love with this frosting. It is easy and smooth. Just not the flavor I was going for.

This is my favorite way to make chocolate frosting! It is so easy, smooth, and delicious! You can add more or less milk to have a thin or thick frosting. I like to make it thin and pour it over chocolate bundt cake so there is a nice puddle of chocolate at the bottom. It thickens up a bit so it’s no longer liquid, but it is still nice and gooey. YUM!
