Homemade caramel sauce made with only 4 ingredients makes it simple and delicious!
In a large pot melt butter over medium heat.
Once butter is completely melted, add in the brown sugar and bring to a boil, stirring continuously until brown sugar is completely dissolved, about 2-3 minutes.
Mix milk into pan, making sure to pour it in slowly and constantly stirring. The mixture will bubble and make noises (this is normal). Bring mixture back to a boil for 2 minutes on low heat and continue to constantly stir caramel sauce.
Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Set aside and let cool for 30-40 minutes or until it is cool enough to work with.
Store unused caramel sauce in refrigerator in an airtight container. When ready to use, take out and take the lid off and microwave for 45 seconds. Stir and serve.
