So, we had half the pie left after baking and I refrigerated it. It was set after refrigerating. Even when we had it the night before and it was a little pecan pie-ish it was delicious. I will definitely keep trying, we thought it was great either way.

I made this for Christmas Eve dessert and it took over an hour to cook and I didn’t think it was going to be good, but it was delicious. I just made another one today and it still took over and hour to cook, but I know it will be delicious.

I see that several people have had a problem with the pie setting up. I’m not sure what exactly has gone wrong. All I can suggest is that you make sure that all the ingredients are fresh ( no old eggs or Karo syrup) and that they are mixed together really well. I apologize to anyone who has had difficulty.

Ummm, I baked it longer than it said and all it has done is puff up really big. There is a crust, but under the crust is looks wet and foamy. What the heck did I do wrong? I followed the directions exactly. Did I miss something? Help!?!

Mine didn’t set up in the middle & had a gooey center. I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to? haha I served it later and it was chilled. Maybe it would’ve been better warm.

That said – it had a delicious dense chocolate taste =)

Nice and simple, but not something I would make again. Like others, I found this took an hour to bake.

Goodness, thank you so much for sharing this recipe! i love simple, old fashion pies and this fits the bill to a T. A great fudgy texture and a nice caramel undertone. Followed the recipe as written, and as others had mentioned,it did take longer (an hour) to bake. What a nice treat…this is certain to be a family favorite!

Oh my, this is wonderful! A delicate chocolate flavor. My pie seemed to separate though, with a chocolate layer on top, but even so it set up nicely and was very good. Will definitely make this one again!
