Description

I don’t trust myself with a torch or gas oven. So I set about to create an equally tasty version using my handy-dandy microwave! The warm and gooey bananas contrast beautifully with the cold ice cream. Delish!

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ cups Pulp-free Orange Juice
  • 3 Tablespoons Dark Rum (optional)
  • 1 whole Banana, Quartered
  • 1 pint Vanilla Ice Cream

Preparation

1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter in the microwave (approximately 30 seconds).

2. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla and return to the microwave for 15 seconds.

3. Stir in orange juice and rum, then add the bananas.

4. Return to the microwave for 20 seconds.

5. Serve warm sauce over ice cream and enjoy!

Feel free to add some whipped cream and nuts for extra brownie points. Personally, I believe this dessert is already rich enough without it, but do whatever floats your boat!

If you like a thicker sauce, you can also use less orange juice/ rum.

I agree with you on the torches! I was just telling my husband that we need to try this. I’ll let you know how we liked it! Thanks for sharing.
