Description

Homemade applesauce in the crockpot.

Ingredients

  • 24  Local Apples , Or Enough To Fill Crockpot Almost To The Top
  • ½ cups Water
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon

Preparation

Core, peel and chop your apples. Pieces should be about the size of a small egg. Place the apples, water, sugar and cinnamon in the crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours, stirring occasionally. The apples will be soft enough to break with a spoon, and the mixture will reduce by almost half. Let cool in crockpot insert on counter overnight. Then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for about 4 hours before serving.

Delicious! I used Stayman (or winesap) apples in this recipe and it turned out beautifully. I followed the recipe as written and, after it had cooled overnight, used my immersion blender to purée it into a nice, chunky applesauce. Great recipe!
