Description

I swear, I’m going to post non-sweet items on here too, BUT before I do that, this is a cream cheese coffee cake that I absolutely adore but somehow only make for holidays and events when I want something not-overly-sweet and easy to have about.

Let your kids help, it’s that easy. I used to have my pre-schooler class do this.

Cake isn’t the right word, thus the quotes, but I don’t know what else to call it!

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg Yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Orange Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla (may I Suggest A Dash Extra?)
  • 2 packages (8 Oz. Package) Crescent Rolls

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and brace yourself.

What you want to do is line the bottom of a pan with one of the packets of the rolls. No! Don’t worry about greasing it!

Then, beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, juice, and vanilla. Spread the mixture over the rolls and then cover with the second package of rolls.

Cook in the oven for thirty-five minutes, until the top is light brown. If you want, once it has cooled, sprinkle a little bit of powdered sugar over the top. Cut into squares and scarf down. Nom, nom, nom!

Note: you can play with the flavors based on the juice or other (cooled) liquid used, also the extract.
