Description

Ooey gooey oatmeal goodness! Serve with a tall glass of cold milk.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks Butter, Melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2  Large Eggs
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, Packed
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 cups Quick Cooking Oats
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Beat butter, vanilla and eggs. Turn mixer to low, and blend in sugars.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and baking powder. On low speed, gadually add flour mixture to sugar mixture.

Stir in oats and chocolate chips until well combined.

Spread in a greased 9×13 baking dish. Bake 25-30 minutes. For the ultimate gooey experience, remove from the oven just before the center is completely done. Let cool.

Makes 24 bars. Eat them. Share if you must.

Don’t know what happened here, but mine were incredibly thick and difficult to get out of the pan. Also, I would suggest semi sweet chips.

I really wanted to love these, but I didn’t. I followed the recipe exactly and the bars formed a hard crust on top that had bubbles around the edge, similar to a pizza crust. Also, the center was still gooey after baking it for the maximum time. The final product is too dense. I imagine that is from using melted butter instead of creaming room temp butter with the sugar. I won’t be making again. Sad because it would be much faster than making cookies!

Easy, basic and very rich. I didn’t even break out the mixer, just mixed it all by hand. Wonderful and my family has already requested I add this to my “keeper” list.

I spread the batter into a jelly roll pan and baked for 20 minutes, superb!! My daughter wanted to use mini-chocolate chips and it turned out great. My husband and little girl couldn’t even wait for the bars to cool before having some. I don’t think these bars are going to last very long but that’s a good problem!

These are delicious! Made them for some family members, and they really liked them. Word of warning though – these are gooey! We like them that way, though, so it was fine. I baked them for 30 minutes…might do 35 next time. Thanks for the recipe!
