For the base:
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine softened butter, icing sugar, and flour. Mix using a pastry cutter or your hands, until crumbly. Press into a 9″x9″ baking pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Set aside.
For the topping:
While base is baking, combine all topping ingredients in a medium size bowl. Mix well and pour over base. Bake for an additional 30 to 40 minutes, until topping is browned and no longer appears runny. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
Cut into 16 squares.
Note: I’ve also used pure maple syrup as a substitute for corn syrup, with delicious results.
