Description

Double chocolate brownies: the only brownie recipe you’ll ever need.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ⅔ cups Butter
  • 1-½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons Water
  • 2 packages Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (12 Ounce Packages)
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Chopped Walnuts (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325F.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl and mix to combine. In a large saucepan, melt the butter with the sugar and water. Bring just to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in one package of the chocolate chips and the vanilla extract. Whisk in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Slowly blend in the flour mixture, and then add the remaining package of chocolate chips and the chopped nuts.

Pour into a greased 9×13″ pan* and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Be careful not to over-bake, and make sure that your toothpick is coated with uncooked batter and not melted chocolate chips if you’re going to continue baking longer. Let cool at least 2 hours before serving.

Note: To make a half-batch, use a greased 9×9″ square pan and bake for 25-35 minutes.

These are the best brownies I have ever had! My son wanted brownies for his birthday instead of cake and these were a huge hit! Fudgey and cakey – yum!

I made about 36 one-bite brownies from this recipe. I omitted the nuts and used dark chocolate for the batter. Use well greased mini muffin tins, filling 3/4 full, and bake for 12-15 minutes at 325°. Let cool in pan for 1/2 hour and give each a bit of a twist to remove from pan. Yummy. I predict that these brownies will be popular with the girls at work.

Seriously easy and yum – I’m a terrible baker and this was an absolutely fool-proof recipe.

I did make some modifications:

1) 1 tsp of instant coffee granules added to the butter/sugar/water mixture (though this was a bit much, and will cut down to 1/4 to 1/2 tsp)

2) 1/2 tsp cinnamon (will bump up to 3/4 to 1 full tsp)

3) sprinkled chile powder on top of batter before baking

YUM.

Just made these last night for guests and they were so good! Using Tasty Kitchen is making my life a little harder one recipe at a time. My family now refuses canned spaghetti sauce, frozen bagel bites, now boxed brownie mix, thanks to this site!

Not all brownie recipes were created equal. I’ve had epic brownie fails (crusty edges, soupy middle), to the point where I don’t often make brownies. However, immediately after I saw this recipe, my boyfriend and I were invited to a Memorial Day barbecue. It seemed like it was meant to be so I tried them. Even after frantically pulling the pan out of the oven because I’d forgotten to add the flour/soda/salt and then having to bake for a long time since the oven was inexplicably turned off for a while in the middle, they came out exactly as brownies should be! (Clearly I was suffering from overwork and not at my best in the kitchen.) Talk about a no-fail recipe! I used Ghirardelli double chocolate chips and I used 1 c. white whole wheat flour + 1/2 c. all-purpose flour. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome recipe!

This is definitely how brownies should be.

I have tried a lot of different brownie recipes, but I keep returning to this one. With or without the second bag of chocolate chips these are my favorite. Thanks!

A-mazing. My husband LOVES these and definitely refers to them by their full name, as in, “Are these Brownies As They Should Be???”
