Description

A very simple pie to prepare, stuffed with apple slices, spiced with liquid caramel and brown sugar, baked in the oven and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE PASTRY:
  • 200 grams All-purpose Flour
  • 100 grams Cold Margarine, Cut Into Cubes
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 50 milliliters Cold Water
  • FOR THE FILLING:
  • 3  Large Apples
  • ½  Lemon, Juiced
  • 1 Tablespoon Liquid Caramel
  • 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon

Preparation

For the pastry:
Mix flour, margarine cubes, and sugar in a food processor, until a fine powder. Place mixture in a glass bowl and pour in water. Knead with your hands until it comes together in a ball.

Place the pastry over a table and mold it in a square shape. Wrap pastry in cling film and store in the fridge about 45 minutes.

Remove the pastry from the fridge and place it on a table over tracing paper. Roll out the pastry with the help of a rolling pin. Cut tracing paper around the pastry, and transfer paper and pastry to a pie pan 24 centimeters or 9 1/2 inches in diameter. Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork and set aside.

Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).

For the filling:
Wash, peel and cut apples into thin slices. Place in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice. Pour liquid caramel and sprinkle with brown sugar. Mix everything well and fill the pie with this mixture. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake about 25 minutes until browned.

Remove pie from the oven, unmold to a plate and serve, preferably cold. Store in the fridge.
