Description

So simple it’s criminal apple crisp.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE APPLE FILLING:
  • 2 whole Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 whole McIntosh Apples
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 dash Sea Salt
  • 1 dash Nutmeg
  • 1 dash Cloves
  • 1 dash Ginger
  • FOR THE CRISP TOPPING:
  • ⅔ cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Regular Oats
  • ¾ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 dash Sea Salt
  • 5 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly spray an 8″x8″ baking dish with baking spray and set it aside.
2. For the apple filling: Peel, core, and dice apples and put them into a medium sized bowl. Add the rest of the filling ingredients. Stir and set aside.
3. For the topping: Place all of the topping ingredients (except butter) into a small bowl. Cut butter into the mixture using a fork or a pastry knife until evenly moistened.
4. Add apples into the prepared baking dish, distributing evenly. Sprinkle crisp filling mixture on top. Bake for 30 minutes or until apples begin to bubble.
5. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve a la mode?

I thought this needed a leetle more sugar……otherwise, very good!

My daughter and I made this last night, and it was delicious! With less than half the sugar called for in other recipes. We’ll definitely be using this recipe again.

Really good, I add extra lemon juice and some vanilla. I like to eat it cold out of the fridge the next day too.
