In a small saucepan, combine garlic, soy sauce and sugar. In a small dish, whisk together mirin and cornstarch until the cornstarch is dissolved. Add cornstarch mixture to the small saucepan, mixing thoroughly. Then heat it over medium-low heat until the sugar has dissolved.
Serving suggestions: Serve over chicken or tossed in a stir-fry.
