Thank you Rebecca! I will be planting a garden full of jalapenos next year. I made 4 batches of Cowboy Candy! Will be sending many jars with my husband when he goes home for Thanksgiving. I can not make cornbread without adding the candy! Thank you again. Deb

These are very good but even though I like spicy food, they were way too hot for me. I might try them again with a mix of milder peppers.

I can not stop eating these. I removed about half of the seeds and it’s still hot, but good hot. I’ve been eating them on Ritz crackers with cream cheese, tomato jelly and them. So incredibly yummy! There will be a BIG spot in my garden for Jalapenos this year!

I made this at the end of the summer with my over-abundance of Jalapenos and served it over cream cheese on Wheat Thins at Christmas time and it was a HUGE hit! Everybody who tasted it fell in love with it. Good thing I had extra to give as gifts. I let a lot of the peppers turn red so the Holiday presentation was perfect.

The are amazingly good. I canned 4 pints less than a week ago, but I just had to open one up this morning. Absolutely fantastic. This is the first thing I’ve ever canned, but they were super easy and definitely worth it. Will definitely be making another batch. ASAP!

These are awesome. I made 3 batches last fall and did two more today. The first one I ever made I seeded half of the jalapenos because so many reviewers said they turned out so hot. While that batch was tasty, my husband and I didn’t think they were spicy at all, so I think leaving all the seeds in is the way to go.
I’ve never gotten 9 half pints out of a batch, only 7-ish, plus a few jars of syrup. Also, it always takes a while to come back to a simmer after adding the sliced jalapenos, so I tend to start timing after it simmers again, not after I add them. (Hope that helps someone who wondered the same thing as I did.)

I made a batch of these a month ago. It made approximately 6 pints. One of my sisters boyfriends ate a whole pint in one sitting. He ate a half pint the next day (This was the entire amount I gave that sister). My other sisters boyfriend say they were “damn good”. I was waiting the recomended time to open mine.

These are OUTSTANDING!!! They are not spicy, just perfectly sweet. The taste reminds me of the Harry and David Pepper jelly, DELICIOUS. We are eating them right now over cream cheese w/crackers, yum!

These sound amazing!!! How many jars does this make?
Rebecca on 5.25.2010
Her website says 9 half-pint jars.

Oh my these sound great. We have a bunch of peppers growing in our garden right now. I am saving this recipe for when they are ripe.

Yay!!!!! I’m so glad you are on Tasty Kitchen! I’ve been reading your blog all the way through and can’t wait to try this recipe. You’ve got some great recipes.

Mam0612- Rebecca beat me to the punch. It does make 9 (1/2 pint) jars. Ish. There’s always a little give and take with these things.
Rebecca- Thank you!!
Sherri- They are great. And sadly, I am completely inept at growing hot peppers. It’s a major failing in a family full of chile heads. Must. Get. Better.
Nataleafromok- Thank you! Food and I go waaaaaay back.

Wow. I’ve never heard of candied jalapeños (tilde over the “n”). Very very interesting.

Wow this looks so good. I have a ton of chile peppers growing (if the weather would get warm here in CA) and wanted something to do with them different.

Do you cool the jars down before canning them? Cool filled jars in cool water? Or hot filled jars in hot water?
staceycooks on 5.26.2010
These look so good! I think I might have to make some of these to be dished out at our next BBQ. Thanks so much for sharing.

mangiodasola- Yes indeedy. I was too lazy to figure out how to throw that tilde in there. How DID you do that? And these candied jalape(tilde over the n)os are addictive. I highly recommend them!
techkim- This is definitely thinking outside the box with peppers, but they’re delicious!
shari- I do hot filled filled jars in hot tap water. I haven’t had a jar crack that way yet in 15 years of canning!
staceycooks- Make more than you think you’ll need. My nine jars disappeared in 3 weeks. I must make more STAT.
