Description

A classic and old-fashioned loaf of pumpkin bread – moist and delicious. See my TastyKitchen recipe box for my “Pumpkin Trifle” recipe that uses this great bread.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil
  • 2 whole Eggs, Beaten
  • 8 ounces, weight Pumpkin (about 1 Cup)
  • 1-¾ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cloves
  • ⅓ cups Water

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). Beat together sugar and vegetable oil. Add eggs and pumpkin. Combine the remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add to pumpkin mixture, alternating with water (starting and ending with the dry ingredients). Pour into a well greased loaf pan. Bake for approximately one hour, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

Very, very good! I made muffins out of this, baked them for 25 minutes. I like that this only makes one loaf, it made 15 muffins. Just enough to take to my daughter in college!
