Description

A delicious accompaniment to your bowl of slow cooker chili.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Corn Meal
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ¼ cups White Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ¼ cups Honey
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter

Preparation

Start off by mixing your dry ingredients together: the corn meal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Next up, mix together your vanilla, honey, egg, and milk. Add it to the dry mixture and combine well.

Finally, stir in the melted butter.

Pour the mixture into a greased up 9×9 pan and cook it in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

I baked this to take to a branding only I doubled the recipe and then cooked it for about 45 min in a 13×9 pan and it worked great. I really like the flavor it isnt overly sweet and I think it would be great topped with a little honey butter. Thanks for the recipe! Im sure the guys will love it!

Sorry to be the odd reviewer out. This doesn’t taste much like corn, is rather dull and dry-ish, and everyone’s reaction was “eh.”

I love cornbread and am always trying new recipes for it. I may not have to anymore, as this is the perfect recipe- sweet, cakey . . . delicious!

I made this tonight and it came out great! I used 1/2 bread flour, but next time I’m going to try using all pastry flour.
