Description

These cinnamon rolls are so sweet and tasty and easy. The white cake mix adds a special touch. As if cinnamon rolls could be easy … but it’s the cake mix that makes them seem easy!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages (7g Packet) Yeast
  • 2-½ cups Lukewarm Water
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 package (18.25 Oz. Package) White Cake Mix
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ⅓ cups Vegetable Oil
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 6 cups Self-Rising Flour
  • 1 cup Softened Butter, For Spreading On Dough
  • 1 cup Cinnamon Sugar Mix (Using Brown Sugar), For Filling
  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar, Mixed With Water For Icing

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, stir yeast into warm water. Add 1 teaspoon sugar and let stand for 5 minutes or till foamy. Add cake mix, egg, oil, salt and 1 cup of flour. Beat with an electric mixer till well mixed.

Gradually add remaining flour, mixing by hand to form a soft dough. Cover and let rise about 1 hour or till doubled. Stir dough down; cover and let rise again till doubled. Stir dough again.

Turn dough onto a floured surface and roll out to desired thickness. Brush with butter. Cover with brown sugar and cinnamon. (If you are like me and love the gooey part of a cinnamon roll, then add a GENEROUS amount of brown sugar and cinnamon.)

Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into 1″ slices. Place in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.

Bake uncovered in a 350-degree F oven for about 25 minutes.

Mix the powdered sugar with just enough water to make a nice, drizzling consistency.

Drizzle rolls with icing while warm.
