Description

A quick concentrate to keep in your frig. I add it to coffee, to coffee with half a package of instant cocoa mix for mocha, or to tea for Chai. I gave it to friends for Christmas this year to rave reviews. This is adapted from a recipe found in The Oregonian.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Sweetened, Condensed Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cloves

Preparation

Just put all ingredients in a bowl or cup – I use a measuring cup for ease in pouring into the jar in which I store in refrigerator. Cover and refrigerate. I imagine it will keep for some time. Unfortunately, I’ve never had it last longer than a week or so to find out!

For mocha: To a cup of coffee, add half a package of instant hot cocoa mix, and a heaping spoon of the concentrate or to taste.

For Chai: add two teaspoons of Chai concentrate to steeped tea of your choice.

For Chai cocoa – Make cup of hot chocolate and add a spoonful of concentrate.

Be adventuresome! (The original recipe in The Oregonian didn’t mention the mocha or cocoa possibilities.) I suspect this would be delicious in eggnog! …and even if you chose to add some rum.

I really like the sweetened condensed milk as a base for the spices. Great idea.

This is so good and so easy! I’m not spending $5 on a box of concentrate again.
