I was surprised with the texture after blending the frozen bananas! Fantastic idea!

Exactly as described: tasty, healthy, easy! For me personally, it was just a little bit too much straight banana flavor for an ice cream, but my kids loved it! Three bananas made more than we were going to eat in one sitting, so I used the leftover to make some treats for later. I broke grahm crackers in half, spread one half with a thin layer of peanut butter, and the other half with about half an inch of banana ice cream – relatively healthy ice cream sandwiches! I froze them in a single layer so the banana filling wouldn’t all squish out, but once it was hard again I just tossed them all in a ziploc.

Oh. My. I think you just saved my summer diet. I was skeptical, but it’s true: this really did sub well and fulfill my ice cream craving. Amazing! I did add a touch of milk in my blender to help smooth things along, and a little vanilla. Thanks for this!

I used really ripe bananas. It definitely had the ice cream texture, but as it “melts” you can tell it is just bananas. The kids loved it. Thanks for the recipe. Now I can use my ripe bananas for something other than fattening banana bread.

I’ve been doing this for a few years too, though with a splash of milk added to make the blending faster (and sometimes a dash of cocoa, to make the eating faster ). My kids aren’t fans but I love it!

This is so easy! I saw this on SeriousEats.com. The recipe is also surprisingly versatile. Add some honey, almond slivers, or peanut butter, chocolate chips…and you’ve got yourself a whole new ice cream world

Who knew? Thank goodness that you did and were willing to share. I added a dash of maple syrup and blended. Amazing!!

This is beyond easy. It definitely fooled my kids, but once it started to “melt” they realized it was just mashed up bananas. Thanks for sharing!
