How do I save recipes in my Recipe Box for future reference?
The Recipe Box feature is a great way to keep track of your favorite recipes, or those that you want to try. Adding recipes to your box is a cinch! Just go to the recipe page that you want. Under the photo, you will see several links (in red print). Click on Add to Recipe Box, and that’s it! The recipe is now in your box. (If you don’t see the Add to Recipe Box link, check if you are logged in.)
To find the recipes you have saved in your Recipe Box:
- Click on My Recipe Box on the left-hand side menu, under the green Members heading. This will take you inside your Recipe Box.
- Your Recipe Box has two tabs: My Recipes and Community Recipes. Click on Community Recipes to list all of the recipes that you have stored. You should be cooking in no time! (All the recipes that you have submitted are automatically filed in the My Recipes section of your Recipe Box. You don’t have to do anything special to add your recipes to this section.)

How can I sort recipes so the site is easier to navigate?
To sort recipes:
- On the left-hand side menu, click on the category that you are interested in, say, Appetizers.
- At the top of the section, you will see the latest Featured Recipe for that category. Under this section, you will see a bar with a list of sorting options:
- Recent: sorts the recipes by date, from the most recent to the oldest
- Photo: displays recipes with photos first, followed by those without photos
- Title: sorts recipes alphabetically, by title
- Rating: sorts recipes from highest to lowest rating.
We’re constantly trying to make this site as easy to use as possible. We’ve got a bit of added site navigation functionality on the way soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

What is the difference between a Mitts rating and a Review?
The Mitts rating is like a ‘star’ rating, with 5 mitts being the best rating. You can rate a recipe by hovering your mouse or pointer over the mitts line on the recipe page. You can only rate each particular recipe once, and you don’t have to write a Review in order to give a recipe a Mitts rating.
Reviews are a different thing altogether. Currently, we’ve got everything (miscellaneous comments, questions, and reviews) lumped into this area. Again, we’re working hard on some improvements that will split up all of these items into their own category. This should make the site a more useful mechanism for folks who want real feedback and ideas in order to improve and refine their recipes. To find the Review dialog box, simply go to the recipe page for the recipe that you would like to review. At the bottom of that page, there is a blank form/box where you can write your review or ask your question. When you are done writing the review, just click Submit and your note to the author will be on its way through the general forum.
Please remember that we’re all friends here, so we do ask that you keep your public notes to other members courteous and constructive. Questions or clarifications about the recipe, comments on the photograph or the results, kudos, etc. are all fair game. This is a great way to make friends and learn how to improve your recipes and cooking skills, so have fun, but play nice! If any sensitive personal issues or differences are involved, you can either try to resolve it privately or, if deemed necessary, bring something to our attention.

Help! I mistakenly clicked the wrong number of mitts!
Unfortunately, right now there is no way to undo a mistaken Mitts rating. But don’t fret—we’re all friends here and we’re sure there are no hard feelings! We are, however, working on a fix so this doesn’t keep happening (you aren’t the only one, don’t worry!). Stay tuned for this and lots of other fun tweaks!
