Description

Sweet Vidalia onions make for a wonderful side dish and it is so easy to make this yummy tart!

Ingredients

  • 1 package (15 Oz. Size) Ready-to-bake Pie Crust
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 8 cups Vidalia Onions, Sliced
  • ¼ cups Sweet Red Pepper, Diced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ¾ teaspoons Thyme Leaves, Crushed
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
  • ½ cups Grated Or Shredded Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Using a 10″ tart pan with a removable bottom, or a 9″ pie plate, follow the directions on the pie crust package, press pie crust in pan, flute edges if pie plate is used. Set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onions, red peppers, salt, thyme, and black pepper. Cook and stir until onions are soft, about 12 to 15 minutes.

Place onion mixture in pie crust. Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese. Bake until onions are crisp and golden, about 40 minutes.

Garnish with sprig of fresh thyme. Serve immediately or at room temperature.

Note: This recipe came from my friend Cheryl in Nebraska. Cheryl has made it for many years and is happy to share with friends, family, and Tasty Kitchen cooks!
