A traditional Lebanese side dish, very simple but with unexpected flavors.
This recipe came from my grandmother, a real Lebanese lady and the best cook in the world.
Place rice in a saucepan and cover with 3 cups of light beef broth or water. Bring to a boil and steam until done.
Meanwhile, allow butter to melt in a large skillet. Brown pine nuts over medium-high heat until they are brown to golden brown, but not burnt. Pine nuts burn fast, so don’t leave them unattended! Set aside browned pine nuts.
Pour in 2 tablespoons olive oil and brown 1 medium onion, diced. Once this is browned, set aside.
Place ground beef into the skillet, in small chunks. Brown the meat until it is well done and there are no pink pieces.
Once the rice is done, add it to the meat in the skillet. Add the toasted pine nuts and browned onion pieces. Stir it all together in the skillet and add spices.
Serve with any appropriate dish or Mediterranean salad.

Sounds good, my husband is Lebanese, so I am always drawn to an easy Lebanese dish, thanks for sharing.
