A warm and homey casserole that’s comfortable sitting next to pretty much anything on the dinner table – ham, chicken, steak, pork, etc. (And an easy way to get men and kids to eat vegetables!)
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Steam the broccoli in 3/4 c. water, or in the bag if you are fortunate enough to have one of those handy microwaveable bags. Of course, fresh broccoli is just fine for this recipe, but I tend to make it more in the wintertime, thus the frozen packages.
3. Prepare the stuffing mix according to package directions.
4. Whisk the flour and butter together over medium heat until bubbly. Pour in milk and continue to whisk until slightly thickened. Add cheese and stir until melted.
5. Layer the ingredients in a 9×13 as follows: broccoli, sauce, stuffing.
6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
Definitely a comfort food. Types of vegetables and cheese may be altered to suit your tastes.
