This asparagus side dish is filled with wonderful flavors.
On a clean work surface cut the tough ends off of the asparagus spears. Rinse well. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Then add asparagus and blanch for 2 minutes. Remove asparagus from water and set aside.
In a large skillet on medium high heat, melt and heat butter until it starts to smell nutty and turn golden in color (do not burn butter). Add black pepper and asparagus spears and cook for 4 minutes, tossing to coat the asparagus in butter. Shut off stove top. Add Parmesan cheese and gently stir. Transfer to a serving dish. Serve and enjoy!
