Description

This is my absolute favorite recipe for baked beans. They are awesome!

Ingredients

  • ½ pounds Bacon, Diced
  • 1  Onion, Chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 2 Tablespoons Molasses
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar, Packed
  • ½ cups Barbecue Sauce
  • ¼ cups White Wine Vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Chili Powder
  • 16 ounces, weight Canned Pork And Beans, Undrained
  • 16 ounces, weight Canned Pinto Beans Rinsed And Drained
  • 16 ounces, weight Canned Chili Beans In Sauce, Drained (do Not Rinse)
  • Salt To Taste

Preparation

Note: Make sure you pay attention to the details for each can of beans. To drain or not to drain … that’s the question.

Heat oven to 350 F.

In a large skillet over medium heat cook bacon until crisp. Then remove bacon from pan with a slotted spoon and set aside on a paper towel.

Drain all but a couple tablespoons of the grease from the skillet. Then add the onion with a pinch of salt into the skillet and cook until it gets some color and is tender. Add the garlic and continue to cook 2-3 minutes. Place onion mixture into a large bowl and mix with all other ingredients, except beans and bacon, mixing well. Then stir in the beans and bacon.

Place in a greased 2-1/2-quart casserole and cover with a sheet of foil. Bake covered for 40 minutes the uncover and cook an additional 25-30 minutes.
