did mine but i found they mold after sometime ( just found out about the vodka, i thought that was the job of the salt) also the smell gets stuck inside. i have to keep scratching the surface for the fragrance to escape… any tips to make them better next time

This was so fast and so easy to do, and they work! My friend and I made them using leftover candle jars as the holders. I think next time I’ll use votive size candle holders so that I can make them smaller – they’d make perfect gifts. We also talked about making cup-holder sized ones to fit in the car.
My only advice for anyone else – you won’t notice the scent as much if you have a fan going. When I was running an oscillating fan in my room, I couldn’t smell it. But, without the fan on, it was just perfect.

This is a great idea! Although I would suggest that you use natural food colorings because standard food coloring has some nasty chemicals.
Anyways, I featured this recipe in my most recent blog post here: http://naturalife.org/diy-natural-products/natural-homemade-air-fresheners
Thanks for the great DIY tutorial.

You also need to let it cool to about 100 degrees because almost ALL essential oils have a flash point which means the scent will evaporate and be almost non-existent if they are heated above a certain temperature, that’s why you put them in after trace when making handmade natural soaps.
I am anxious to try this to be used for car fresheners and closets also since it seems almost identical to the high priced retail versions .

Do they melt away? Or just slowly lose scent..great idea!
