My husband’s Norwegian grandmother was a cook for wealthy Galveston families. She made these all the time – so why these are “Swedish” I don’t know. But we can’t have the holidays without them!
Heat the oven to 375.
Combine the first 5 ingredients well and shape into 12 large meatballs. (Start with 1/2 cup of the milk and see if you need to add more). Place these in a baking dish.
Combine the brown sugar, dry mustard, vinegar and water to form a “syrup”. Pour over the meatballs and bake for one hour, basting the meatballs every 15 minutes with the syrup.
Serve with mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, and sauteed cabbage for a lucky New Year’s dinner!

Can I make these ahead, and keep them warm for a few hours in a crockpot?

This is both ground ham AND ground pork. Don’t sub ground beef in for the pork. Did that one year and they were awful! (: We having these tomorrow night…Happy New Year!

Is this using ground pork, or a ham ground up? Thank you! They sound delicious.
