Description

These baked pumpkin spiced donuts are so fluffy and light. Coated in sugar, spice and everything nice for lots of fall flavor. Enjoy them with a great cup of coffee!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE DONUTS:
  • 3-½ cups All-purpose Flour Plus More For Work Surface
  • 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 cup Canned Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1-½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • FOR THE COATING:
  • 1 stick Butter, Melted
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon

Preparation

1. In a large mixing bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and nutmeg. In another bowl whisk together the pumpkin puree, milk, vanilla and eggs. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients and gently whisk it together until just combined into a glorious dough.
2. Turn the dough out onto a very well floured clean surface and get it coated in the flour on all sides. It’s a very sticky dough and this will make it easier to work with. With well floured hands, gently press the dough into a big circle about 1 inch thick.
3. Preheat the oven to 350 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a donut cutter, cut out donuts from the lovely dough and transfer them to the baking sheet. Added bonus, there will also be donut holes! You should get about a dozen donuts and a dozen donut holes depending on the size of your donut cutter. Bake the donuts for 15 minutes, until puffy and golden.
4. When they are done, take them out of the oven and let them cool enough to handle. In the meantime make the coating. Melt the butter in a big bowl by heating it in 30 second increments in the microwave. In another bowl stir together the sugar, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. Take the donuts and donut holes and dip them each in the butter, then coat them in the sugar mixture. Transfer them to a plate and keep repeating until they are all done.
5. Serve the donuts warm with a great cup of coffee and enjoy the fall-inspired goodness!
