Jazz up your plain ole bottle of red wine with a burst of citrus flavor
To make the sangria, mix all liquid ingredients into a large pitcher (add more simple syrup to taste). Add in fruit slices and give it one more stir. Place pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours before serving.
Note: To make pear simple syrup, add 1/2 cup of water and a 1/2 cup of sugar to medium sauce pan. Heat over low heat until sugar is dissolved, let cool to room temperature. Pour simple syrup into a blender and add a whole diced pear and blend on high until pear is completely blended into the syrup. Measure out a 1/2 cup of syrup for the sangria.
