This is the lemonade I grew up on. My grandmother makes this for special occasions and it’s always a treat! This makes A LOT of lemonade!
The night before:
Cut lemons in half and squeeze to make 1 quart of lemon juice. Refrigerate overnight. Put half of the squeezed lemons in a separate container and refrigerate overnight.
The next day:
Put sugar in a 5-gallon bucket. Add 1 gallon of warm water and stir until dissolved. Add refrigerated lemon juice and mix well. Fill the bucket a little over half full with cool water. Add the refrigerated lemon peels. Cover. Just prior to serving, add a bag of ice to the bucket.

We made it in a large PowerAide drink cooler & it worked perfectly!

My grandmother always uses a soup ladle!

This sounds excellent. Next time we have a shin-dig, I’m totally going to home depot, getting a new bucket, and making lemonade.
I wonder if I could find a nifty hand pump with which to extract it? Hmmmm.

Yes, pounds! I know it sounds like a lot, but you’re making it in a 5-gallon bucket, so it makes a lot of lemonade.
