So is this putting an Irish twist on a Southern classic or is this putting a Southern twist on Irish whiskey? Chances are after 1 or 2 of these, you really won’t care. The following is a fairly basic mint julep recipe with Irish whiskey substituted for bourbon.
Into each of two 6-ounce glasses, put 2 mint leaves, ½ teaspoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of water. Muddle ingredients and fill 2/3 with crushed ice.
Pour 1 ½ ounces of Irish whiskey into each glass over ice. Top off with ice and garnish each glass with a mint leaf.
