An awesomely delicious chocolate pie straight from your grandmother’s recipe box
1. Preheat your oven to 425°F or 220°C.
2. Mix together butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Be careful not to over-mix these ingredients. It’s perfectly acceptable for the butter to be a little bit chunky.
3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in cornmeal, cocoa powder, evaporated milk, and vinegar until smooth. Don’t worry if the mixture is runny. That’s how it’s supposed to be.
4. Pour mixture into an unbaked pie crust that you have waiting in a pie dish and bake for about 10 minutes. Then reduce heat to 300°F or 150°C and bake for about 40 minutes longer. The filling should be solid by now – if not, stick it back in the oven for a bit.
5. Let the pie cool. Drizzle some cream on top of individual servings for delicious and heavenly goodness.
