I love snow days! That is something I never quite outgrew. Now that I’m an adult, skipping work seems so much sweeter than skipping school ever did. Here in West Texas, snow days are few and far between, so whenever the opportunity arises, I HAVE TO make snow ice cream. This is a super-quick, super-sweet treat. Another plus is that it lacks the gritty sugar that was in the snow ice cream of my youth.
Before you begin, get out a 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk, your measuring spoon, and your bottle of vanilla. You’ll wanna have it handy when you bring your snow in, ’cause ya gotta work fast when making snow ice cream!
Collect a lot of CLEAN snow from outside. I set a 9X13″ foil pan outside in a safe place while it’s still snowing to catch my snow. Make sure your pan is heaping full of snow.
Once you have collected your clean snow, run back inside and grab your can of sweetened condensed milk and your vanilla and get to work.
Pour half of the can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the pan of snow, stirring the whole time. Stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla. Lastly, stir in the remaining half of the sweetened condensed milk until ingredients are evenly distributed.
Spoon ice cream into bowls and serve immediately.

Thanks for this, have never added the can of milk, all we ever did here in New England was put some maple syrup on it. Will have to give this a try.

This is something my mom makes every time it “snows” in North Texas.

I made some during out last snowfall…..except I doubled the snow and added a can of cream of coconut. Shake the cream of coconut real well until it is all mixed together or else it will have chunky clunks…..learned this the hard way on the first batch. The second batch I actually poured the cream of coconut into a bowl and mixed with a mixer first. I froze it for eating later and it was so yummy! My recipe actually called for adding 1/2 cup sugar also. Tried it both ways and either was fine…one with the sugar and one without.

We don’t get snow often, but when we do……..it’s snow cream time!!!! I have even put chocolae syrup in mine to make chocolate snow cream. So many people have not heard of it. So simple, yet so yummy. Thanks for posting.

Yummy snow cream! Most people I know have never heard of it but we’ve been eating it our whole lives. Here’s a tip: Fill your sink about halfway with snow and nestle your pan of snow in that and pat the snow around your pan. Now I want snow cream! : D
