A simple and delicious apple dessert, this heirloom recipe contains no oats or oatmeal. Easy to make and easy to eat!
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Stir together the flour and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add butter and mix by hand until crumbly and fine. Set aside.
Arrange apples in the bottom of an ungreased 2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle the apples with water, then sprinkle on the cinnamon and salt. Evenly sprinkle the flour and sugar mixture over the apples, covering them completely.
Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature, with ice cream if desired.
