A simple apple pie (with crust) recipe.
For the crust/pastry:
Mix 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder together in a large mixing bowl.
Add the beaten egg and the milk (a little at a time) to the mixture and mix well. Add the butter (which you can soften) and mix well until you get a nice, even consistency to the pastry dough.
Keep a bit of the pastry on the side, to be used as strips for the top of the pie (if you choose).
Line the base of a greased oven-proof dish with the rest of the pastry dough and set aside.
For the filling:
Cut and peel the 3 apples and stew the fruit along with 1/4 cup water (and a bit of sugar, if needed—use less than 1/4 cup to sweeten).
If the apple filling is too watery, you can add a bit of corn flour to the mixture as it boils to thicken.
Once the apples are to the consistency you desire (I like to leave mine a tad bit crunchy), place the mixture into the pan lined with your pastry dough.
Top off the pie with the extra dough strips you saved earlier.
Bake the pie at 200 degrees C (or about 390 degrees F) for 25 to 30 minutes, until the dough is cooked through.
You can serve the pie warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
